Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is a Canadian actress. Paquin, who was raised in Wellington but born and raised in Winnipeg began her acting career on screen in The Piano. At age 11 she was one of the youngest Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the enthusiastic and lively young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the prize. As a result of an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of the mute Scottish musician who came into New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. At the age of a teen, her family moved from Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was Jane Eyre's protagonist as an teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) and her main character of Jane Eyre in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 in which she played the queen of Spain in a smaller role. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
