Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she was able to read and write she was making up the songs she wrote herself. When she was eight, she bought the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. As a student in high school She made her mark local, but longed for having a bigger stage. When she was graduating in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), reached the No. number 1 position after the duo split. In 1974, Parton's song I Will Always Love You reached No.
